Subject:Problems with Time Stretch in Acid

Whenever I use Time Stretch in a project it doesn't play the event that was stretced at the right time. It always delays it a few seconds before kicking in. The further away I begin playback from the specific event, the longer it delays. The only time it does not do this is if I begin playback at the measure where the event begins.

I also get a similar problem if I use the Pitch Shift Plug-In. But, if I pitch shift by double clicking on the event rather than using the plug-in, it works fine.

Suggestions??? Thanks

Oh Yeah, another thing, every time I use the Gapper/Snipper, my computer freezes up.

When you're using Time Stretch, you're changing the length of the signal, hence why you're probably experiencing the "anomaly" that you're having.

With Pitch Shift, try checking the "Preserve duration" option. Otherwise, you'll experience the same problem that you're having with Time Stretch.

When you change the pitch via the track properties, you're actually experiencing ACID's stretching algorithm engine in action without any plug-in activating. You can fine tune stretching even further by using the "Stretch" tab if you experience artifacts such as echoes (in ACID Pro only).

Not too sure what's going on with the Gapper/Snipper, but note having a lot of such effects going on at the same time will tax your system. Have you tried the effect on just one track?

OK, I think I poorly worded my post. I understand the concepts of time stretch/pitch shift and that by doing so you changing the length of the signal(hence stretch and shift). But my problem is with playback. Let me see if I can draw this out. Say my original event is 4 measures long and I stretch it out to 8 measures.

I have this event begining at point 1. So the 8 measure event should play through points (measures) 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. My problem is that it doesn't begin playback at point 1. It will delay it so it ends up playing through points 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11, or later. But the thing is depending on where I start playback in the project, this delay isn't constant so I just can't move my event back a certain number of measures to line it up to where it's supposed to be. Does that make sense? Why doesn't the event begin where I specified it to? Why is Acid not constant on where playback begins with the strethced event?

Thanks.

If you're using a plug-in that is not time-rigid, then all bets are off. Details can be found on the fourth item in the known-issues section of the readme.

That pretty much answered my question, thanks for the help SonicJG and mD
