Subject:Can't download .zip files because of Acid

Anytime I try to download a .zip file, my computer automatically tries to open it in Acid. How do I change my settings so it won't use Acid as the default?

I've gotten this far: Folder Options->File Types->Zip File->Edit

Now what do I need to edit?

Thanks.

That's weird. Thought only ACID would open ACD, ACD-BAK and ACD-ZIP files, not plain-vanilla ZIP files. (I don't have such problems with WinZip 8.1 installed.)

Did you try installing/reinstalling a zip utility of your choice? It might take over the file association. If not, you can configure something like WinZip to do so via Options>Configuration and then the "System" tab...

Or are you talking about the "Get Media" feature in ACID Pro 3.0? If so, just click the "Show Details" button, choose a file to download and untick the box next to the file name. Then click "Start".

No, just plain zip files. I tried to install "Buzz", the dowload was something like buzzmachines/Buzz_Starters_Pack.zip

Each time the download was complete it would automatically brings up Acid and try to open the file in it.

When I looked at the zip file in my temporary internet folder it even had an Acid icon next to it.

Also when I looked up the zip info in the view->file type-> my .zip is marked with an Acid icon.

I've no idea how your zip files got associated with ACID, but you can manually reassociate them with WinZip (or whatever your favourite Zip program is).
Right click on a zip file and choose "Open With" from the shortcut menu. From this choose the program and set it back to WinZip.

Hope this helps,

Suzan
