Subject:HELP! multipurpose fader options disappeared!

Something very weird just happened. I've been working on a new project in Acid 3.0 and the options for the multipurpose fader have just disappeared (volume, pan, fx, etc). The fader itself is still there and shows the volume level when I point to it but everything else in this function is missing. Obviously I expanded the track view and opened some other projects-same thing. I closed and re-opened Acid again and even rebooted to see if that would get it back. Nothing. The program seems to be working fine (no glitches or other problems that I can tell). This is probably something really simple that I'm missing but I've looked at the help menu but couldn't find anything. I didn't think eliminating this stuff from the track view was even an option. What's happening??

OK, I searched the archives and found another string that applied to this. I'll try "repairing" Acid from the unistall function (suggested from SoFo on the other thread) and see if this is a fix. In the meantime I'd really appreciate any comments or other suggestions. Is this a bug?

Thanks,

drbam

Here's a progress report: I tried the Repair function but it didn't fix the problem. So I did the uninstall-reinstall which did fix it. This concerns me though because if others have experienced this, then I can't help but think its some sort of bug . . . not a huge issue but definitely annoying and clearly a hassle. Also when I opened the new installation of Acid, I was prompted to enter my serial # which I did, and then it showed a message that it expires in 30 days. What's the deal here? I'd appreciate some comment from SoFo on this.

Thanks,

drbam

drbam,

Kinda stumped here on this one. You weren't by chance using a mono source for any of your loopage were you? Or having no buses assigned? I am thinking that is there are no options (panning, bussing) to do - the only think left would be volume and there would be no need for any multipurpose action.

Please update when you can.

Cheers,

Cuzin B

yes..this sure is odd...for i have yet to run into that problem.

also, for the 30 day thing, thats so you will register it, thats all. just jump online and register it...even if you have....register it again...

Actually I only had 4 tracks running (I had just begun building the project) and they were all mono trks and I had buses assigned. It did occur to me that the mono only trks may have been the issue, but I opened some other projects with multiple files (mono, stereo, loops, one shots, beatmapped) and the same thing was happening. Strange stuff!! ;-O

I appreciate everyone's comments and still would like to hear from SoFo on this (and/or anyone who may have helpful input). I'm starting a 3 week project with an artist who's coming over from Europe (I'm in Arizona) and I plan on using Acid pretty heavily in this (along with V V 3 and Soung Forge). Everything has been working sooo flawlessly lately and I get VERY nervous when something like this occurs, as I'm sure many of you can relate to. Thanks again!

I'm not sure about ACID expiring in 30 days thing. (You may just want to try uninstalling and reinstalling again.)

For the multipurpose fader issue, sounds like the track list window got scrunched a little bit. (It sounds like maybe you only tried stretching the tracks vertically but I could be wrong.) Try hovering your mouse cursor between the track view and the track list; the cursor should turn into a horizontal double-headed arrow. Simply click and drag to the right.

Let everyone know if it worked for you or not.

Thanks for this comment. The problem was fixed with the reinstall, so I can't determine if this was the issue. I just checked out the horizontal scrunch and the multifader options do indeed disappear. This certainly could have been the situation all along but I'm still confused why Acid opened other projects in the same manner. Anyway, as I said in my first post, this is probably something simple and I hope this is it. ;-)

Thanks!!
