Subject:an error occured while loading the project file..

hello there everyone, I recently did one project and saved it.. (without a backup file unfortunately). But nothing was corrupted, except that i had changed the name actual folder where the .acd file resided (cuz i wanted a more appropriate name for the project). Next, when i tried to load up the file again (which was a month later or so), it gave me an error message that it cannot load the project file. And I tried changing the name of the folder of another project, and the same thing happened, so i changed it back to the original name. But the thing is.. i cant rememebr the original name of the folder that i had changed a month ago.. so I cant seem to open the project at all... Unless i rememebr the original folder name.. Is there any workaround??

not really...i suggest opening a new project and just laying down the old tracks again...its gonna suck to line them up all over again, but thats all you can do.

You should be able to discover the original folder name by looking through the contents of the .acd file.

However this can be a bit awkward without suitable tools as the filepath is hidden amongst a huge amount of binary data. A hex editor/viewer can be useful for this, certainly much easier than trying to wade through it in notepad or something similar. But the best tool I have found for locating text strings in binary files is BinText, available from http://www.foundstone.com/knowledge/forensics.html. It has the nice feature of finding both ASCII/ANSI single-byte strings and Unicode double-byte strings.

Hope that helps.

Thanks dear friends but I also figured out the hex editing prior to reading this.. n I already reshuffled the files back to the original locations with original names.. its all working now:) thanks anyways. Any hex editor should work though:)
