Just found the piano keyboard under the View Menu.
How can I use it to record music for a melody I wish to compose?
I know the tune and beat I want ... I can pick out the tune on a Midi keyboard ...
How much can I expect to get using it?
Single notes ... or will it assist in adding cords etc.
Is there a tutorial?

Oddly enough, Sound Forge staunchly refuses to record from it's own keyboard. However, you can launch almost any other editing/recording application, even Windows Sound Recorder, and set the mixer to record "what you hear" while you click away on the SF keyboard. You can then save this recording in a .wav file and open it up in SF for further editing.

It does have auto chords and 127 instruments, so it is kinda nifty. Personally, i have trouble clicking the keys in tempo with the mouse. I don't know how well it does for sending midi as i don't own any midi devices to test it with.

Thanks Chienworks

That is odd that SF will not record it's own keyboard *ponder* As I siad I just found it ... I had no idea it was capable of 127 insturments and cords. I imagine it is difficult to mouse-clik on tempo. Well I'll play around with your suggestion of using the Windows Sound Recorder. If that does not allow me to create music to the melody I have ... are there SF tutorials on how to hook up a midi keyboard to SF? I am a newbie :>
