Subject:6.0a Major Crash bug

Ok, reported this one under the beta, but just downloaded 6.0a last night to try it again. Using TC Native Reverb v1.5 (not 2.0). Put Native reverb in the plugin chainer. Selected a small audio portion where the audio comes to an abrupt stop (ex. snare hit). In the chainer I had it happen with "insert tail data" and "mix tail data". It previews fine. When you select "process selection" an immediate SF 6.0a crash. You have to hit "Cntrl Alt. Del." to get out of the program. Then when you reopen sound forge it gives you the option to recover the file.....except!!! when you say "Yes" to recover, it gives an error that no file is found, or is unaccessable (sorry forgot the exact message)....uh oh...so much for crash protection. So then when I reopen the previously saved file, I find I can't play back anything because I get "an error has occured opening the 'Your sound cards name here' device." The weird thing is, that I then open up Vegas and the same "playback device" is able to play audio using Vegas. So it's not a sound card driver corruption, it's a Sound Forge corruption. I've recreated this bug on 2 seperate systems. I haven't seen this one in 4.5 or 5.0. P.S. Sonic Foundry guys: I called Sonic Foundry for the first time needing tech support and talked to Dave Hill. Dave saved my ass out of a bind (Thanks Dave), but mentioned how he should start charging some special tech support service rate for such good deeds. I think he's right, just like I should start charging SF a special bug report support service rate. I think I can afford my 1 phone call in 5 years rate. Well, my computer needs rebooting now, I'll be back in a few with more bug reports :-)~ Rednroll |
