Ok, haven't found anymore plugin chainer bugs going through my large collection of plugins tonight.....but Suggestion 1: When using the plugin chainer, I feel like I'm constantly fighting with the positioning of my windows between the data window and the chainer window. I like to be able to toggle back and forth between these windows so I can select an area in the data window and then immediately go to the chainer window to tweak the plugins. The problem is that the chainer window is "Always on Top". So now I have to try and position them side by side, or one on top of the other. When I try to do this then the automatic docking feature, suddenly throws the plugin chainer to somewhere I don't want it to be. I know you can hold the "Cntl" key to disable the automatic docking feature, but who feels like working like that? It would be nice to see in the options to "disable automatic docking". I also think it would be nice to have a "minimize button" on the chainer window so it would goto the task bar when I need it off my screen, yet want to use the "plugin preview" button located on the data window. Also, why does this window always have to be on top? Why can't I click on the title bar of the data window and have that be on top and the chainer window go behind the data window? It would also be nice to have a similar feature like "MACS" (that's right said the "M" word), where you could double click on a title bar and have it minimize to just a title bar and I could therefore move that out of the way of my data window or vice-versa with the data windows. Basically, my screen is constantly cluttered by this chainer window and the best option I've found to get it the F*@# out of my way is to dock it at the bottom of my screen and then resize it everytime I need to use it. Like I said, I feel like I'm fighting with the windows trying to do simple editing. Suggestion 2: A way to monitor "Mix tail data" in the chainer window. If I use the simple delay to do an Echo of a word within a song, I can't hear the echoed repeats mixing with the audio in the tail data. I just get a mess of loops repeating of the area I have selected. The chainer should be smart enough to know, that it's in "mix tail with data" and do exactly that when I do an preview and am trying to monitor it. |

Red - I know this isn't a solution, but with 6.0a you can use the F11 key to collapse all docked windows. And, there's a feature to change the behavior of the ctrl key so that you have to use it to dock the windows. Otherwise they always float. So, what you could do is dock the chainer on the bottom or sides and tweak all you want and when you want the data window, you hit F11 to "put away" the docked windows. It wuld keep the preview in chainer button in the data window. I do agree with you, though, about your suggestions. All good ones. I also wish there were a ctrl-spacebar playback so that you could play the data window no matter what window you were focussed on. Maybe a ctrl shift spacebar to play through the chainer. cdm |

so hitting the F11 key will disable automatic docking, so that I have to hold the control key to dock them? That's kinda one of the things I was looking for. |

no, there's a preference for that. F11 works the way it does in Vegas 3 |

Right. In 6.0a, there is a General pref called "Control key prevents docking". When checked, drags will attempt to dock unless Ctrl is down. When unchecked, drags will only attempt to dock if Ctrl is down. F11 toggles the bottom dock. Shift+F11 toggles left/right docks. Ctrl+F11 toggles all docks. |
