I have yet to see MY situation covered with this topic. I am running Windows ME and I just installed the latest updates to both Acid 3.0 and Sound Forge 5.0. Neither program recognizes either of my cd drives. I have one cd/dvd drive and one writable cd drive on my system. Neither is recognized by either program. I am using Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum as my main CD manipulation software. I have NO problems with either drive in any other way. NO I am not on Windows 2000 or NT, so the whole administrator issue should not apply to me. Is there ANY help out there? Sure, it is not THAT hard 2 export a wav and burn it in Easy CD, but I paid for ACID and Sound Forge and would like to benefit from the programs themselves. Thank you for any help I receive. |

Seeing as you paid for ACID and Sound Forge and would like to benefit from the programs themselves, maybe you should submit these issues to Sonic Foundry and benefit from Sonic Foundry's tech support. Other than that, if you post your drive makes and models, maybe someone will say what they did to get thiers working or that theirs also does not work. TeeCee |

I have two SCSI drives - a Yamaha 4260 RW on ID 1 and a TEAC 532S reader on ID 2 Neither SoundForge, Acid nor Vegas will recognise tracks for ripping on the faster second drive. Posted about this a few months ago and never did get a reply. Regards M |

You haven't given many details as to what you've tried. In Acid, select Options- Preferences. Then select the CD tab, under "write drive", is YOUR drive selected? You'll find that the more details you give, the quicker and more precise responces you'll get. Tell us what you've tried, if you've installed something lately that MIGHT affect your situation, if you've reformatted, etc. HTH |

I've seen a few people report that their CD writer isn't recognized when it's the slave drive. Is your DVD the master and the CD-R the slave? If so, try swapping them. You won't have to move any cables, just move the jumpers on the back. This might be a simple fix. |

In Acid 3.0, when I click Create CD it prompts me to choose a CD-R drive. When the preferences screen opens at the CD tab, the drop down menu at Write Drive says no device. When I click Extract Audio from CD, that window pops up and under drive there is no listing at all. I had this problem with 3.0f and I upgraded to 3.0g with the same results. Same thing happens in Sound Forge. Before and after I upgraded. Both of my CD drives are recognizable everywhere else. I am new at this, so I am sorry if I am not providing enough info. |

That's good info. I would suggest sending an e-mail to tech support stating what you've just written here, along with the make of drives you mentioned previously. Sorry, I can't think of anything else right now that might help you. Later. |

Had a problem like this when I put in my new burner, but it's Win2k. Fiddled around and finally turned off "Enable Digital Audio" in the device properties in (Windows) Computer Management and it found it. |
