Subject:distortion when recording audio into acid

trying to record a mix of mine from cdj / mixer into acid 3 via a vaio and its reading it and recording but very distorted as if the information is too much for the vaio soundcard. i have tried adjusting the levels of recording inside the sounds and multimeida section..should i go through an amp or adjust something?
