That's weird. Is there a setting in the Mia's mixer that will let you determine resolution and sampling rate? Did you also try picking up the latest Mia drivers?

thanx mD but i also found in the manual appendix that it says win 2000, me ,and xp cannot use 24-bit recordin with any other than microsoft sound recorders. anybody know if this is true or can be bypassed?

That's funny. I use an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 and an M-Audio USB Duo. Both use 24-bit/96 kHz. I have no problems at all in Windows XP.

(Did you mean to say, "Microsoft Sound Mapper?")

I think it all depends on the drivers. I also looked at the release notes for the latest Mia drivers and, from what I could tell, Echo doesn't state any problems using 24-bit in Windows 2000, Me or XP but they do state various problems with recording and playback in various apps like Sonar and Sound Forge in 24-bit. Weird.

It's hard to suggest. Did you contact Echo themselves? I would also try uninstalling and reinstalling the Mia's drivers.

Other than that, I'm just puzzled as to why you can't even whip up 24-bit/96 kHz in ACID Pro.

You should be able to select the sample rate for the project via File>Properties on the menu bar and then the "Audio" tab. (There's also a button for it in the Mixer window.)

maybe you have the sample-rate lock set in the mia control panel. try clicking it to unlocked.

fyi, under win2k the echo wdm drivers emulation for MME doesn't seem to work so well with acid 3 when doing full duplex recording, but it works fine in other cases. you still have the -6dB on the outputs problem that the kmixer introduces though.
