Now that Apple will buy EMagic and drop sopport for Logic on PC, this has got to be good for SoFo and AcidPro. The choices for Logic users aren't that many, especially since many dislike VST. Of course I'm extremely sympathetic for Logic users - it's infuriating to buy into a system and then have it discontinued because of corporate machinations. On the other hand it has to make AcidPro4 a more economically viable proposition. can't wait to see what SoFo will come up with. |

This would be BIG if sofo released Acid 4 and finally made it more than just a cool "looping" tool. That was a pretty thorough wish list a while ago...add a dash of sofo r&d wizardry/creativity/uniqueness[?] and they be able to grab a large portion of those poor logic soles abound in limbo, not sure which way to turn or even where to put their hard earned cash. That really sucks! Later. |

As a PC Logic and SoundDiver user my first reaction is that Acid and Vegas don't come anywhere near the functionality lost. Sonar is closest for Audio, Midi, Acid-style Looping and Studioware together but then nothing will replace SoundDiver for controlling my synths. M |

Hang on Mus, I am sure Cake will be offering a competitive upgrade for orphaned PC Logic users, similar to the one currently offered to Cubase users(SONAR 2.0 for $99.00) and you still get to keep and use your old program. To answer a question you had in another thread, SONAR does have some pretty decent audio editing features, but I still prefer using my trusty Sound Forge 5.0 as a dedicated editing tool(works flawlessly within SONAR). I am also looking forward to seeing what the new ACID Pro 4.0 is all about. I most assuredly will upgrade from 3.0, unless of course, 4.0 is a total dog. Billy Buck |

Thanks billybk, Four years ago I invested in an expensive system consisting of Creamware TripleDAT Audio software with ADAT-equipped TDAT16 (aka Sonorus STUDI/O) hardware MTC sync'd to Logic for Midi. Never liked the clunky Logic Audio editor. TripleDAT is great software with fast integrated comprehensive non-destructive Audio editing and CD-Writing in one program. Logic is great at Midi, and SoundDiver superb at controlling synths. Great combination for a while. A year later Creamware had completely abandoned TripleDAT for Pulsar/Scope and now Emagic disappear. Still Acid style looping has become pretty important to me so I'm looking for a new combination that doesn't mean running too many programs at once. The disadvantage of SoFo is NO MIDI and the non-integrated Audio editing. I was going to get a new 'puter this year anyway so time to re-roup and re-consider I guess. I'll check if that Sonar crossgrade is available here in the UK. Regards M |
