In sound forge can you listen to a data window and record (overdub)something from a MIDI source like a drum machine or keyboard directly into the playing data window? If so, how to control recording volume into the existing data? If not is there a way to record a NEW data window while playing another? This might allow me to then MIX the two data windows into one and achieve the desired additions the the original data window...yes??? |

You can't do the first; Sound Forge is a single track (mono or stereo) system. It doesn't contain anything like Sound on Sound or Sound with Sound. Vegas is a multitrack program and can handle this nicely. You can, however, open up two instances of Sound Forge simultaneously as long as they are different versions (kinda like having two stereo tape decks) and play on one while you record on the other. If you don't have two different versions, then simply play the first file in MediaPlayer or WinAmp or whatever is handy. |
