Subject:Help!:Acid into 4 track/VMR problems

Hello All,
What I want to do is sequence Acid with my 4track so I can record basic acid tracks and add on other sequenced stuff later. This has proved to be pain staking and tearful.

I have a copy of acid 3.0 and the VMR thingy program (3.0e) that makes no sense to me what so ever. I’ve installed it properly according to the manual and Acid recognises that it is there.

I have a Creative Soundblaster Live card (with Live drive) The 4track is a Yamaha MD4S. I’ve had no problems syncing the MD4S to my Korg Triton, so there are no problems down that end.

I’m not sure if my midi connections are right, if acid is right or the VMR is right. In fact, I’m not sure if I’m right anymore.

So what I need is a step by step guide and help (for idiots, by geniuses) so I can get this done.

Cheers.

Alex. ( widebell@BTInternet.com )

What does the MD4S "listen" to for sync?

Can it be a slave to MIDI Time Code (MTC) or MIDI clock? (They are different, so be sure.)

Can it send MIDI Time Code?

As far as connections, you don't need the VMR.

Connect the MIDI input of the MD4S to the MIDI out of your SBLive card.
Connect the MIDI output of the MD4S to the MIDI in of your SBLive.

ACID will generate MIDI Time Code _or_ MIDI Clock to the SBLive output.
ACID will receive MIDI Time Code from the SBLive MIDI input.

This should get you started.

Cheers, thank you.
I'll have a go at what you have suggested.
Please keep a check on this topic for me because I really havn't the foggiest clue about what I am doing.

--I have had the MD4s running through the Korg Triton, no problems.
I've been very scared to use midi through the computer because I'm a technophobe and I'm scared of it (for a machine that is supposed to make life easy it fails at it's job!)

I want to use the Midi Clock because that's what I am used to useing with the Korg (so I can add tempo changes at stuff)

I've only ever needed to use one midi cable for connecting the korg to the MD4s. (maybe this is what is going wrong).

This mail is all over the place, isn't it?

Thanks for your help, I hope it's my life a bit easier.

Alex.
