Is there a way to use the SF plug-ins as an external sound processor ?
I mean: is there a host application that allows to sample the sound card input, process the sound with plug-ins and sends the results back to the sound card output in real time ?

Probably not, other than a host DirectX application like Sound Forge or ACID Pro.

None of our apps will do this.

It is possible, but the latency of your audio hardware has to be very small - < 5 ms and even some would argue that this is too much. Also, it depends on what type of "processing" you want to do.
