Subject:CPU usage = 100% : why ?

In recording mode, Acid Pro 3 takes about 20% CPU (44.100 khz / 16 bit), according to the system monitor.
However, Sound Forge (version 5 and 6) uses 100% CPU for the same task !

Why this difference ?
Is there a parameter to change in Sound Forge or Windows to reduce CPU usage ?
