Cool, but not that great... what I would like to see is a beatmapper where you can go throughout a file that IS NOT TEMPO perfect, define where the beats are,and let ACID stretch in between those markers so that the song fits in time. |

Tried out Ableton Live. Good for short loops. Not really ideal for Beatmapping tasks. Especially with tracks that have more than 150 bars/measures. |

Actually it *is* relatively difficult to auto-detect transients properly, especially to figure out the meter, and deal with rests, soft drum hits, and areas that have only sustaining notes. If you're really really serious about this, and want to quantize a song with a lot of drummer "wow" (as in wow and flutter), this would be the way: 1. Bring the song into ACID all by itself as a one-shot. 2. Set the cursor at the beginning of the first beat. 3. Press H to bring up a Hit marker at the first beat and to show the time ruler. 4. Set the cursor at measure 2, beat 1. 5. Right-click the Hit marker and choose "Adjust tempo to match marker to cursor" 6. Move the cursor to the beginning of the second measure (the fifth beat, if you're in 4/4 time), and press H again. 7. Move the cursor to measure 3, beat 1. 8. Right-click the Hit marker and choose "Adjust tempo..." 9. Repeat steps 6-8 until you're done with the song. 10. Render the song out to a new file, and you have an even-tempo'ed song. If your song is fairly even tempo, you may not need to do it every measure, and can skip some measures. HTH, Joel |
