Subject:What soundcard should I buy?

I'm giving up on my good old Gina20.
What should I replace it with?
I run Cubase SX and Soundforge in WXP.
I also run W2k and W98.
I need 1 stereo in and 2 stereo out.
Any tips?

If you have an idea which cards you would like, try typing in their names in the search engine. You might get threads where comments were made about it, either positive or negative.

Remember, you get what you pay for.
There are alot of inexpensive 24/96 cards available now for not too much $$.
The Maya (if I read it right) is only 18/48, hense the low price.
I wouldn't give up on the Gina yet until you've tried everything. Rednroll has 2, why don't you try to get a hold of him to see how his are set-up.

Since it seems to be with SF only, have you contacted SF tech support? The Gina is a popular card, maybe they have a workaround or a solution. Also, maybe it's a known issue with Echo and they might have a workaround.
Maybe Microsoft has a list of compatible sound cards for XP.

Just firing ideas at ya. :)

"The relatively new budget prosumer card category is becoming competitive with offerings from Echo, Midiman, and now Terratec. The Terratec EWX 24/96 has its pros and cons but overall it is the most well rounded of the bunch and the best value."

Found this on multimedian.com
I own the Mia, so don't think I'm biased.

If you've got a dedicated DAW you could try a Luna from Creamware.

here's a good user site for info:

Check out the Delta 66/Omni Studio combo from M-Audio. So rock solid, I sometimes forget the card is in there. I own and operate a digital media services company that provides voiceworks/promos/spots/narrations etc for the broadcast industry and we pound the crap out of our gear everyday. The Delta has been a fine investment and has more than paid for itself in short order. Not a lot of cash either.

Cheers,

Not necessarily. True, the Gina20's do have ASIO drivers, but those drivers do not get used unless the application supports ASIO. None of the Sonic Foundry applications support ASIO, thus I'm not using ASIO.

It'll be about a month before I do the upgrade to XP, I'll let you know then if I run into any sound card driver issues.

Did you install Windows XP in standard PC operation? Those Gina's need to have their own IRQ. If you don't run XP in Standard PC operation, then it will assign all your hardware to the same IRQ. In standard PC operation you can assign individual IRQ's to hardware, like in Windows 98.
