Folks,
All info necessary for the Digital Media Training Tour is up on the www.sundancemediagroup.com/vvtour.htm site. Check it out, register today! Dates/cities are confirmed, and so we're looking forward to hearing from y'all and seeing those registrations pop in.
Featured products on the tour are ACID 4.0, Vegas Video 3.0, and SoundForge 6.0.
Each city will have a reception/open house the night before the seminar, and then a full day cram-packed with learning about these Sonic Foundry tools. Loads of fun, lots of informative tips/tricks. Visit the website, or email mannie@sundancemediagroup.com for more information. The tour kicks off in September 2002

Hey Spot, you totally know what's up with 4.0, give us at least a VU meter readout of how cool it is:

a) Earthshaking (+10 clipping)

b) Solid Upgrade (0db)

c) Minor Upgrade (-9db)

d) Disappointment (-18db)

Man, you guys must make a lot of cash off this deal to be promoting it so hard! So the latest indications from parsing the various words carefully are pointing to an Oct release for 4-oh. When you go to the site they are hawking info on "upcoming" SF products, but the only one that COULD be upcoming (the rest are already out) is 4.0--so in late Sept, 4.0 is by their definition an "upcoming" product.

All I can say is....It's a SOFO product. It'll be great. If it was going to be a disappointment, you think I'd put my reputation on the line by doing a PERSONAL tour to support it? This tour is a Sundance Media Group gig, not a SOFO gig...C'mon out and see us!

We put our reputations on the line every day with these posts, and are just after Truth. There's every reason to believe 4.0 will be great, because of the pressure us users have put on SF to raise the bar considerably to deliver full integration and standards adoption. That means real midi, ReWire, industry-standard plug-ins, etc. Great means not just clever and elegant which SoFo products always are, but this time, great must mean that Acid morphs from a useful and fun toy into a sophisticated professional tool.

Excellent post, Maruuk. Amen to that. SoFo may say they feel no preesure, but the heat has got to be incredible. They gots to come with the s@#t this time or hang it up. And I con't believe they haven't made a move to capitalize on the Emagic/Windows snafu...oh well...we'll see...NAMM is tommorrow so obviously THAT'S OUT!! October seems a little far off but Propellerheads annouced Reason 2.0 in what, Feb and it got released late June. Hmmm...anyway, great post.

I dunno about ReWire. Does anyone here honestly think Propellerheads would give SoFo a license to use their technology in ACID, especially considering that ReCycle is also a Propellerheads product and SoFo is an established company to begin with (read the fine print)? Something to chew on...

Sonar does pretty much EVERYTHING that acid does and more!!! So why wouldn't they allow sofo to use it with acid/vegas? Loss of revenue if you ask me. Pretty much what we're all asking of sofo for the next version of acid is a sonar clone but with a spin that only their team can put on it. We'll see. Later.

See you guys on the sofo media tour: NYC!!!!!!

Pretty much everybody's on the ReWire bandwagon: MOTU, Logic/Apple, etc and these are established software houses so I can't see a problem there. But you can't rule out some goofy political game between Steinberg/Props and SoFo that could screw us for ReWire. Let us pray that SoFo doesn't try to establish it's OWN new standard for interconnectivity and plug-ins and try to force everybody else onto their trip. That's all we need...ANOTHER set of standards.

I love the way the webbie keeps shoving this thread to the top of the heap even when there's been no activity in it for hours. Note to SoFo: THIS IS A USER FORUM, NOT AN ADVERTISING SPACE!!!!

Hey Maruuk,

We don't have anything to do with the media tour, so we aren't trying to advertise it. If we were, don't you think that we would have something about it on our website? BTW - You bumped this thread to the top every time you posted a reply to it. If no other threads have been posted in, the one that has been posted in recently will remain at the top. That's the way our forum works.

Ted--I know how the forum is SUPPOSED to work, but this thread was getting bumped to the top in the last 2 days when there were no new postings at all. Just to let you know we know. Power to the users!
