I have read here about the silence that the fraunhoffer codec puts in. I have also read a response that someone said you could use the 'chopper' tool in acid 3 to remove the silence at the beginning and the end of one of these. I have tried to do it and cant get it to work at all. I open an mp3 that has the silence, and some markers where i want the loop to be excluding the silence, view in chopper view and then double click in the chopper view and it selects the are in my markers, I then delete the orignal track and insert the new chopped one and voila, the loop works. Now when I go and try to save that out, it inserts the silence back in. Is there really any way to get rid of this silence? the project that I am working on is very limited on space so I cant use a wav. Does anyone out there know how to get the silence off of the mp3 file so it ends up just like a wav. I am told that if you use the Fraunhoffer codec there is no way around it. Is there any other codec on the market that doesnt insert silence?

Thanks

Matt

It's part of the MP3 spec, and as far as i know you can't get around it. Either continue using the original loop chopped with the chopper (hey, that's what the chopper is there for) and don't bother saving the file back, or use .wav.
