Does SoundForge support reading and writing .SHN files?

No. The SoftSound Shorten format is not supported at this time.

We actually have our own lossless compression format, Sonic Foundry Perfect Clarity Audio, which is supported in Sound Forge and other Sonic Foundry products. But if you require the .shn format for trading or whatnot, then you're be out of luck.
