Has anyone seen this? During CD Burning, I get the following error message. It happens all the time and I unable to burn CD's. Sometimes it happens immediately, sometime in the middle and sometimes near the end. I've tried updating to DirectX 8.1, reinstalling sound drivers, reinstalling cd drivers, updating to aspi 4.71, virus scans, defrags, disk error checking, reinstalling Acid, various option changes, even replacing the burner. It's Win2k and I am administrator. Project plays fine without errors. "An error occurred reading data from a dile on the system. Make sure that you have access to all data files need to write this disc." Have you thought about updating the firmware in the CD Burner? (TDK I would assume?) It can be risky, but it could help. I can't seem to find that model, but try TDK's site anyway. HTH, Iacobus |

Already checked. It's the brand new TDK VeloCD 40x12x48 and there are no firmware updates yet. The burner was my first suspicion. I had the problem on my old 4x4x4, so I went out and got the new faster one. Still having the same problem on the new one. |

There is a firmware upgrade, but not for the "B" model of that drive. Have you tried a lower burning speed (set via Options>Preferences>"CD" tab on the menu bar)? Try 2x or even 1x. What could be happening is that the data is being flung far too fast for ACID, as ACID has to not only encode any effects that are in the project in real time but also prepare the data for burning to CD. That could bring even the fastest system to its knees. HTH, Iacobus |

I found the culprit! You guys are too firmware narrow minded and are only looking at the obvious. :-) I reformatted my hard drive and started rebuilding my Win2K system from scratch. I tested for the problem between each application installation and system upgrade. The problem didn't show up until I upgraded from IE 5.0 to IE 5.5 SP2. What an unlikely culprit. Never would have guessed. But if you think about it, it sort of makes sense because of all the multimedia crap that MS shoved into a browser. Backed out IE 5.5 SP2 to IE 5.0 and the problem went away. Also don't have the problem with IE 6.0. Sure glad I didn't rush out an buy a new PC! Now I can save and buy a good one and Acid 4. Thanks for at least looking at my question and the moral support. |

Glad to hear it worked. Can't figure out how MSIE would hose your burner (maybe something to do with how MSIE is integrated in ACID?), but then again these are PC's we're talking about. :) Iacobus |
