Stupid question: How do I get a "perfect loop" according to the "Edit Tempo" function in Sound Forge? I use audio loops from sampling CD's. After cutting the loop until it sounds good/apparently correct, the Edit Tempo function reports my loop slightly different from the one I want (ie 95.010 instead of 95) Can you please tell me which is the correct way to cut a loop? Thank you for answering a stupid question. |

The timing of the loop itself is the most important. I don't even mess with teh Edit Tempo. I go to Acid Properties and set the key and number of beats. When you slice a wave, you want the cut to come at a zero crossing to avoid a digital "click" (even though you still can get them, even if you are cutting at a crossing). Sometimes, that cut will fall just before or just after the actual beat, which will read as 90.1 or 89.9 bpm instead of 90. It's usually such an insignificant amount that you won't notice it. Make sure you have the beats down solid -- Acid will take care of the tenth of a bpm for you... |

Ok, thank you, that seems to be correct. The problem is that I get my loops from sampling CD's. They have a certain tempo - let's say 95 bpm. On my CD's the loops from the same "family" are on the same audio track. When I grab them, the result is a longer wav with pauses between loop variations. The end of the loop is marked by a "pop", so there it should be easier to cut. Even if I cut on a constant downbeat, the loop won't be exactly 95 bpm. This doesn't bother me, the problem is that when I try to use this loops in Cubase, I set the tempo to 95 bpm and my loops appear shorter (they play with small gaps between them). I tested the Edit Tempo feature with a loop generated in ReBirth and indeed its indications are correct. What am I doing wrong? Is there any "scientifically correct" way to cut the loops? Thanx |
