I 've just installed the vmr on my computer running XP Pro and was wondering"now what?". I'm new to this concept so please be detailed. 1: Which app[vegas or acid] is best to set to Master/Slave? Any difference? 2: How can I setup my system to combat "drift" between apps? 3: How should I setup either apps to "run" next to one another?...[ie:same project tempo, bit depth,etc...] 4: Any arbitrary tips to go along with this thread? I'm not worried about syncing with sonar because I've never needed anything "outside" of it so far. Just wanted to mess around with the idea of using the vmr and see for myself what its about. Can we expect any improvements to it anytime soon? I'm building a dual proc system soon. Can I expect a tighter sync between apps with that kind of power? [still shaking my head between amd/intel] I'm running a pent 3 600mhz cpu,384 ram, XP Pro [standard pc mode],tweaked for performance[everything not important is turned off],2 hd's[1-OS,2-audio drive],echo layla 20bit soundcard[beta 6.04 drivers for XP]. Most recent version of Vegas,acid[3.0c/3.0g respectively] Looking forward to the next version of acid. Thanks. |

1: ACID, from what I've heard, likes to be the master in any sync situation, mostly for any tempo change purposes. 2: Try checking out MusicXP.net if you haven't done so already. Basically, if you've got a nicely optimized system you should have no problem. 3: Make sure any tracks being used in something like Vegas match the project tempo in ACID. Example: If a tracks original tempo is 108.075 BPM, place ACID at that tempo. From my experience, tracks that are a few ticks off in tempo will start to sound like it's drifting when it's actually not. (I hope I explained it right.) Check out this SoFo KB article for more info (especially the last section). 4: Not much more I can suggest. You really shouldn't have a problem especially with that system config. HTH, Iacobus |
