Subject:ACID Music stopped working... my nightmare began.

I've been a happy user of Acid Music 2.0... until yesterday. Suddenly it started telling me the system was low on memory, and it couldn't play back my compositions. The RAM usage bar at the bottom, tho, said otherwise -- I was only using about 13 mb out of 128 mb. I hadn't changed my composition significantly. Just to test, I deleted some tracks, and even tried opening a simpler version of the composition from a couple weeks ago. Still wouldn't play. I thought the problem might have to do with some stupid CD labeling software (Click 'N Design) I installed -- the problem started after this. I uninstalled the software. ACID appeared to work. Then today, I try to use it again -- and again it tells me memory is low, playback is impossible. I'm running no other programs! I figure I'd better reinstall ACID. I uninstall it. Then I reinstall it. Except... it asks me for my serial number. Can't find it -- it's not in my manual (which is just a printout of the included PDF), and if I ever had a separate card w/ the number on it, I don't now. I bought the software a year and a half ago... I didn't hold on to every piece of paper that came with it. I've e-mailed Sonic Foundry, asking them to resend the original activation code to the same e-mail address as last time. Has anyone else had this experience? Have Sonic Foundry been cooperative? Do you think they'll have my info on file still, a year and a half later? And, anyone know why the program started having playback problems? Any help GREATLY appreciated. Max |

Sofo will fix you up, but you may want to make a phone call on Monday vs. waiting for an email reply. I like to keep the serial #'s for programs, written legibly on a CD jewel case, as well as on an archived notepad/wordpad burned on a CD (with some DL'd updates n' stuff). I am always losing paperwork with important #'s. |
