Typically I browse loop cd's from the cd player, insert the desired loops into a project and then do a save-as, checking copy all media, to copy just the loops I use to the project folder. For a few loop cd's that I use most often I will copy the entire cd (or a good portion of it) to my hardisk.

I know some people have dedicated drives for their entire loop library, but my drives are typiclly filed with video.

Just curious how some of you do this.

For the Sonic Foundry loop library CD's, I only copy what's in the specific "Loops" folder to my hard drive. Everything else is basically extra on the CD, like loop samples from other libraries.

KDS has some CD organizer thingie out now. Don't know how great it is though.

I grabbed an 80G Maxtor external 7200rpm firewire drive for about $200. They're stackable up to 63 drives, so it's virtually endless add-on.

I love it. I used to juggle CDs, but when you get to the point where you have dozens, the money for a dedicated drive makes up for the time it saves you. (IMHO)

Thanks for the feedback, so do you ever find reason to do the save-as "copy all media", I guess it would be good as back up or if you want to take the project to a different computer?

Definitely. You could also save as an ACD-ZIP file via File>Save As on the menu bar. It basically will do the same thing as "Copy all media" except it'll compress the project for you.
