I have used acid products for a long time now but can't for some reason run 4.0! I purchased it for $99.00 and had been useing acid music 3.0 without any problems. As far as I can get is to the splash screen for a couple of seconds before it crashes! When the blue screen of death appears is states something about vxd ma_delta (01). I do not have a delta soundcard for starters! So why would this pop up anyway. It looks like I am out my $99.00 or is it possible to get a refund!!!I should have tried the demo before I ordered 4.0. |

Another satisfied customer. But the suits grabbed the $99 and can justify their huge Christmas bonus now. So it was worth it after all. |

weedy: What kind of video card do you have? (Video card drivers happen to cause the most problems with software. For example, I updated to those new CATALYST drivers from ATI for my Radeon card, which gave me nothing but heartache with ACID Pro 3.0 and ACID Pro 4.0. I couldn't even start them both (but other SoFo apps like Sound Forge ran just fine). Going back to a previous driver version did the trick.) Try also reducing or turning off video acceleration. Maruuk: I'm pleading you now. Please stop. Your comments add nothing to weedy's problem. Iacobus |

weedy, What kind of sound card do you have? Have you ever had a Delta (or another m-audio card) installed in this machine? The BSOD is almost certainly pointing to a VXD related to these drivers... Nate |

Thanks for the reply! I had a m audio card a couple of years ago and have since replaced it with a emagic 2/6 external that runs with usb. The m audio gave me alot of problems with my compac 400mkz system so a friend at the guitar center told me it was better to use the emi 2/6 ! I had gotten rid of everything that was in my computer the was linked to the m audio card. I use acid music 3.0 and have tried acid pro 3.0 demo and had no problems. I also use cubase and cool edit plus other programs that have no problem! There is one strange thing thou in my fruity loop options the m audio 2496 is still listed! I wonder if when acid starts to load it reconizes that for some reason! |

weedy, My first reaction is to guess that the m-audio ASIO drivers are still hanging around, even if they point to nothing. Some things to check that will let us know if this is the case: (I am assuming you are using Win98SE or ME, as the BSOD references VXD drivers for the m-audio card) If you go to the Control Panel in Windows and open your Multimedia control panel (Sounds & Multimedia in WinME), do you find the m-audio card referenced under the audio tab? If you do, then the Wave drivers for the m-audio card are still installed, you will need to either remove the driver via Add/Remove Programs, or go into the Windows Device Manager (through the System control panel) and remove the m-audio device found under Sound, Video and Game Controllers. If you do not find any listing for the m-audio card in the Windows Multimedia control panel, then you'll need to pull the ASIO drivers manually. Check the following registry key to see if the m-audio card is referenced in a sub-key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ASIO Often just deleting the sub-key that references the (non-existent) card will take care of the issue. Let me know if this does not help. Nate |

Thank You Thank You!! Nate you are one hell of a guy! I knew I had seen the info on the sub key about the asio drivers but I had to think where I ran into this before! Then it hit me I used tweak ui and sure enough you were right there it was m delta so I hit the delete and it was no more! I was still alittle skeptical so I launched fruity loops first to see if the m delta was listed in my wave options! It was gone in fruity loops so I crossed my fingers and launched acid 4.0 and there it was all ready for my next recording session. All I can say is your great!! Thanks again for your help and I hope this will help anybody else who is having the same problem getting past the acid splash screen. Tweak ui was also a big help!ROCK ON BROTHER NATE! |
