I've informed SOFO about this but I just want to make sure I'm not nuts in my thinking here: Create a project with a buss. Add a few tracks, some going to the Buss and some going to the Master Buss. Now solo Buss A (or whichever Buss you routed everything to in the above instruction). The project still plays everything that's only routed to the Master Buss. This should NOT be the case. Solo should be solo. If I solo Buss A, I want to hear everything routed to Buss A and ONLY BUSS A. If I want to hear Buss A and the Master Buss, I'll solo the Master Buss as well. Same goes for Soft Synths. Vegas does not behave this way. This should be logged as a bug. Thanks for your attention. |

Hi, Just to let you know that I've also mentioned this to SoFO tech support. Solo should solo! See my other recent post "Just sent this to tech support" - http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=120266&Replies=1&Page=2 Mike K |

Probably the reason you're seeing the phenomenon that you're seeing is because you don't have the Bus' playback device selector set to a specific device. By default, it's set to "Master". Try selecting a specific device under the Bus and then solo the Bus again. I bet you'd only have the Bus then after soloing it. HTH, Iacobus |

The point is that Solo in Acid doesn't do what it should in the context of a working studio environment. If you solo (AFL) a buss on any hardware mixer, you will here audio being routed through that bus, and nothing else - ie the bus has been Solo'd out from everything. Currently if you solo a DLS or softsynth in Acid, you can still here the output from the audio tracks. The only way round this is to either mute every single audio track individually, or route audio and softsynths to seperate busses. Not that practical. Mike K |

Iacobus - I would still argue that even if the Buss is routed to the Master, I should still only hear that Buss if I solo it. In Vegas, that's exactly how it works. |

I don't what to say about soloing the DLS or soft synth, but I do know that the way the Bus works for soloing has been that way since ACID Pro 3.0. Maybe it's because the most common use of a Bus is to actually route it to a specific playback device (even if it's the same device as the Master)? If you go by the signal flow diagram (punch up ACID's online help using F1 and under the Contents tab, click Signal Flow Diagrams), the Bus Control is before the Master Bus Control. That means unless I send the Bus to a specific playback device when I solo it, it'll go to the Master Bus Control, which will then go to a hardware output. (Or am I wrong? Oy, I'm getting a headache...) Iacobus |

Iacobus - You're right. It has been that way since 3.0, but I would argue that they should consider changing it to match Vegas' behavior, which IMHO is correct. |
