Any way to adjust this? Didn't see anything in preferences. Tech support said to uninstall and reinstall, don't want to do that just yet.

Any tracks added to your project are based upon the setting in the Preview fader in the Mixer. If it's set at +6.0 dB, then any added track will be at +6.0 dB. Set it to -6.0 dB or more (less?) and you should be golden.
