Hello

The time has come for a clean install of Windows on my system (its good for the soul). I am a little nervous about reinstalling ACID once Ive done it due to all this serial no/computerid/activation code rigmarole which has left me totally confused

The email I got from SoFo when I bought ACID had a computerid, serial no and Activation Code.

When I came to install and register ACID the computerid (Im sure) was different to the one that was in the email and the serial no that shows in the opening screen is not the one that was in the email

When I first isntalled it the codes in the email would not work. So I used the reg file that they send that still left Acid running in Demo Mode until I registered it.

So to reinstall do I have to re register ?

The email also said I would not need a new Activation code unless there was a hardware change, so will the regfile still work after the drive is reformatted and windows reinstalled the documentation says it should but other threads in the forum say reformatting changes the computerid

Im soooo confused, all this heartache because of a failed attempt to stop the warez boyz

I recently replaced my system drive and on the SoFo apps re-install, all I had to do was re-register with the serial #. Piece of cake! This painless process alone makes me love SoFo products!! Cudos to SoFo for making this the way it should be!

Hello,

All you need is the serial number, Don't loose that, If you have Acid on disk, then just reinstall from that, If you downloaded it or are using the latest version, then save that file as well. After reinstalling the program on the clean install, just get on line and start the program and enter the serial number when told to, then to reregister and you will get a new activation code in a E-Mail, this way you don't even need to call Sonic Foundry, also the computer ID will be regenerated on your new install config anyway so you don't need to save that, just the serial number, the new activation code will be generated from the new computer ID when you reregister.

See ya, Rockitglider
