Hi,
I have recently installed a new hard drive (7200 rpm 40 gig maxtor win98 se) onto my computer (AMD 850, 256 mb Ram, Nvidia M64 video, Hoontech DSP24 sound)and since then every time I try to use Soundforge the system hangs momentarily. This happens when I'm opening a file - Instead of opening smoothly it will get to (for example) 87% then stop for a few seconds. Also when I'm editing eg Cut & Paste the mouse pointer either freezes or the movement goes jerky. When I go to close the file the system also hangs for a few seconds.
When I boot from the old hard drive (also win98 s.e.) it works fine again.
I have reinstalled the program and sound card, updated to directX 8.1 to no avail.
Help
Steve

I've got it sorted. Simple really. I just had to enable DMA (direct memory access) for the IDE drive.
