Need some personal opinions here. Which book would you recommend I buy?
Thanks for all/any advice.

Whichever one discusses how to post to this forum ;). Have you worked with Acid and feel you need some assistance? Or do you just want to tweak Acid a little more? Who is each by? Scott Garigus did the Cakewalk and SONAR power books, but it doesn't seem like he wrote the Acid one...

Here's a personal opinion - Please stop hitting "Post Message" so many times. This one is in here like 3 times already.

Since nobody replied to the others, I have deleted the extraneous posts.

It's not the first time I post, something obviously went "buggy". I did notice the page changed a couple times before I was done writing, and I left in a hurry without checking my post, so I didn't see it had posted several times. Sorry.
I've been using Acid Pro for awhile, but I'm strictly a hobbyist. I don't earn my living with audio, I just like creating songs for my personal use. Since I don't use it every single day, my learning curve is much longer than someone who does(obviously). It's just that I know this app has alot to offer, and I want to have a reference guide to compliment the program.
So, which one do you think is better suited to "walk me through" the different functions.

Thanks for your time.

PS: Hope this only posts once!

If you want to get deep with Acid, I recommend you wait and see if a 4.0 book comes out. The soft synth support makes Acid a much deeper tool (although it does also get me curious about using SONAR for the same tasks). There are several video tutorials for Acid on Sonic Foundry's web site. I reviewed one when looking for more detailed info on DLS.

Good luck,
TeeCee

TeeCee, did you check the ACID 4 white paper for information on using DSL? It's supposed to go into more detail about using new features than the tutorials. I'm asking since I only glanced at it and I'm wondering if it is helpful.

Where might I find this white paper? I am assuming that you do not mean the link in your post as it points at a what's new file of sorts.

You've got the right one -- don't know why they titled it an Overview.
I now see it's not only on the video tour page but also as a "Companion Document" to the support tutorials.

Happy reading,

Suzan

I already read it. Nothing real about DLS editing, just a little bit about usage. Thanks anyway.

Actually, TeeCee...get both. The Sams book will show you the ins & outs, the 'Power!' book, while covering a lot of the same info, will give you some practical usage and tips not covered in the other.

Also, Craig Anderton has published some tutorials on ACID; find him @ www.craiganderton.com. Keyboard, SoundOnSound and Electronic Musician have also published tutorials on ACID; you should probably search their respective sites.

Finally, do a search on 'Chris Moulios' who was the main creator/coder of ACID; I've seen a couple of ACID tip sheets from him as well. Good luck.

waynegee:
You're confusing posters. I know Acid. I don't know DLS. I've looked into it, but I've still seen some interesting things in the demo DLS's that I can't re-produce.

Thanks waynegee & TeeCee. I ordered the Sams, and the Acid Power book is on my "to get" list. I have Cakewalk Power for My HS 9, and it really is well written to guide the reader through the different steps.
I'll check-out the other links you mentioned. I really enjoy working with these apps, and I want to get deeper into them.

Hello,

I think the Acid Power book is a better written book, it's more detailed than the Sams.
