I am running win98se on a pentium III 450mhz system with a terratec ews64xl soundcard with asio 2 drivers. Matrox videocard and dxr3 mpeg card with realmagic drivers. A diamond fireport scsi card with a few harddisks and cd players. I have tried to disable everything except the terratec but with no succes. I also removed the dll that makes the haupage tv card crash. Acid 3 worked fine. Is there anyone with the same problem and or a solution? thanks, Rene |

Do you have the crash details? What module does the crash point to? |

Q: Do you have a prior version of ACID? If so, does it start up ok? I would try disabling the Terratec card. ACID can run with no audio hardware available, and this would narrow it down to at least exclude the audio card as the culprit. You may have to do the following to prevent the ASIO drivers from being loaded as well. (Disabling a audio card in Windows doesnot prevent the ASIO drivers from being enumerated and loaded, so this could cause a problem as well.) You may want to first try disabling the ASIO drivers You can disable the ASIO drivers as follows: - Start Menu | Run | regedit - Locate the following key in your registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO Located in here will be a list of installed ASIO drivers. Locate the entry for your Terratec card. You will find a key labled CLSID in here, it is of type REG_SZ. Rename this key to xCLSID. This will bascially disable the ASIO driver for the Terratec card. Start ACID. If ACID launches successfully, then the problem was here and we will have to determine why the Terratec ASIO drivers would becausing us a problem. If not, then we will have to look for other causes for the problem. Peter |
