nice midi editor!!! but there are some improvements that need to be made in order to REALLY kick butt.. its really cool that the MIDI editor has that little bar graph on the bottom of it that you can control the velocity from, but I would be really cool if this could control PAN and maybe some other paramaters. next thing: lets say you have a 4-part violin section. you put them all in the same piano roll. you want the different parts of the chords to be spread out, so you want to make and individual pan setting for each note. (this is how it is done in fruity sorry for comparing all the time) well, it would be cool if you could use the select tool to select the lowest pitched note leading only. (you select the lowest notes in the chord) the you pan them left of center. then you pan each second highest note 15 right of center third highest, fourth, you get it. individual setting for each note. it CAN BE DONE! Even now, with just velocity, i would be cool to use different velocities for notes on the same "tick" |

The piano roll shows one channel at a time. Pan is a channel voice msg, so you will have to spread the notes in this part accross multiple channels. Pan will apply to all notes on that channel. A synth or plug is not required to pan currently playing notes when a new pan msg is recieved. So to do what you want, you can us the list editor to enter pan values for each note. Since Pan is just a CC, the ability to add this type of control to the piano roll will eventually appear - as our piano roll grows through updates/upgrades. Peter |
