Hey everybody, I just realized that the beta drivers for the Audiophile 24/96 are not supported for Win 98.....so....my question is this...should I consider upgrading my OS to XP for any other reason(s) other than M-Audio support. Do those of you using XP have any real positive insights on this issue? Thanks, Luces |

XP XP XP :o) Seriously, it's actually only a matter of time before support for Win 9x stops; it'd be much easier for a company to concentrate resources on the later OS's, not to mention that sooner or later, the whole computer industry has to move on to the betterment of users. I've made the jump awhile ago from Win 98SE too to Win XP; I haven't looked back since. IMO, Microsoft's finally getting it right, and they should've moved everyone over a long time ago. If you go for XP, make sure to get the right version based on your needs. For example, we've already discussed that you need XP Professional if you have a dual-CPU system and want to take advantage of the architecture; XP Home does not have the feature. You can find out more info here. HTH, Iacobus |

The Audiophile support alone should be enough. Your minimum latency with the Win9x drivers is about 10 more than with the XP/2000 drivers. Also, installing alost any new OS will initially make your system feel much faster. TeeCee |

There's no reason to stay with Win98SE. It's an abomination of an OS. It nearly sent me to Mac OSX. Then I discovered Win2K Pro and XP. I'm still here. |
