Subject:Acid 3g won't open my acd-zip files

I haven't been using Acid for awhile. Lots of updates to my system like Windows 2000 SP3. Everything seems ok. But, now when I run Acid 3g I can't open most of my saved acid files. Most are in acd-zip format. I can open some acd files. I completely uninstalled Acid and then rebooted and did a clean install. Still no success. The message I get when the file fails to load is: An error occured while loading the projectfile Snapshot.acd. A necessary COM interface was not available. You may need to reboot your computer. I got this while trying to load the snapshot.acd-zip file that ships with Acid. I think this rules out file corruption issues? Do I need to enable a service in the Win2k service panel. I seem to have everything running that I normally need? Thanks. -CB |

Ok, I found the solution. I stumbled upon it in the knowledgebase. Apparently I need to uninstall Acid, update Directx 8, then reinstall Acid. That seems to have fixed it. Weired. I would have thought SP3 would have had all the updates? Too bad I couldn't find this by searching the KB. I just had to browse the topics. Too bad they can't index on key words such as COM or "error load project"? Oh well. -CB |
