Subject:ASIO in Acid 4 with Pulsar 1 card

Since SF does not seem to want to respond to my email, I am appealing to any Acid Pro 4 users who also use the original Creamware Pulsar card (software v3). I have been using Acid Pro since version 1 quite happily with no problems until V4 was installed. Basically my problem is lag/latency with MIDI....ie playing VSTi's in realtime and triggering an external synth via MIDI. There is no lag from recording/playing audio at all, only MIDI, so am wondering if using an ASIO driver will solve the MIDI lag...or is ASIO (since I have never had to use it....Sonar being my only other MIDI app and it works perfectly ...but I would rather do it all in ACID)only to improve audio latency?

My problem is that I don't seem to be able to activate ASIO drivers in Acid. All I get in the "Audio device type" drop down menu are Microsoft Sound Mapper and the Windows classic wave driver....shouldn't I have an ASIO driver listed here, since I have ASIO drivers in my Pulsar project hooked up?

The lag under the two drivers I have access to is not unusable, but it requires lotsa quantizing to fix up the timing errors( not my playing!). I can get the playback buffering to 0.4, but then the audio sounds pretty bad.
I hear on the forum that WDM drivers are going to be released for Acid 4...I am pretty sure that Sonar uses these drivers...can someone clue me in here as to what I am doing wrong/missing? I would be most grateful for any help!
Cheers.

What version SFP software are you running ? Do you have the little CW icon in the taskbar before you boot Acid ? The CW OS must be active so it can be seen by Acid. You definitely want to run with ASIO. I'm using AP4 with SFP 3.1a @ 5ms

Hey Spirit, thanks for responding! First up, I am not sure what you mean by SFP? I presume this refers to the Pulsar software...well I am on v3.0, but keep in mind I am running version 1 of the Pulsar card, not version 2 or Luna. As far as the icon in the taskbar, well I never have a pulsar icon in the taskbar...which Creamware card are u using? I realise that Pulsar must be started up before using a music app....I have been using Acid Pro and Sonar for quite some time, but have had no need for ASIO drivers before now.Now I even have this project(using just a single ASIO2-16 source 64 and ASIO2 destination modules in my project) as the default and background prject, but to no avail ;
In the audio properties panel, as I stated earlier I only get two choices of drivers, what is the ASIO driver that I should have a choice of called in this menu?Is there any chance of a screenshot ot further explanation of your ASIO project in Pulsar??? I would have thought that just having these modules in my project, before I open Acid, would be enough for Acid to acknowledge them? Or did you have to activate them in Windows control panel or similar? If you can help me with any of this , then a big THANKS!!!
