Hello, I'm trying to extract audio from my minidisc recorder (Sony MZ-N707) using Sound Forge 5.0. I have done it by running a line out to line in situation in the past. It has a usb port on it and I was wondering if there was any way to get Sound Forge to recogize it as an external drive and use the "Extract Audio from CD" function to pull the data off the unit. This is probably more of a Windows recognition issue than a Sound Forge issue, but has anyone out there been successful with any type of digital extraction technique? The software that came with the minidisc is completely useless, even though it is supposed to allow this conversion. Running XP BTW..... |

This isn't possible unfortunately. You would have to use the "Line Out" method. Ted |

I believe all or most of the portable MDs that can import digital data CANNOT export it. Too bad, that would save me and other folk a-lot-of-time. |

Thanks for your replies folks. I'm amazed that there are such bad recognition issues with Windows and MD. Probably has something to do with Sony's rights on the ATRAC3 format. Actually wrote Billy G. and the boys about it. Would be nice if I could one day burn to it like I do my CD burner. Oh well............ Jeff |
