Hi everybody, I'm new here. I just got ACID, and I'm getting a Universal Audio/Mackie UAD-1 card. I'm wondering if ACID will work as the VST-compatible host software I need for the UAD-1. That would be great, because my main app is SONAR 2 (non-VST), and otherwise I'd have to get Cubase just for the UAD card. Thanks! |

Acid 4.0a only supports VSTi (Instruments) not VST effects. Unless you use a VST to DX wrapper. Sorry George Ware |

Thanks. Yeah i don't want to use a wrapper because it slows performance and just puts an unecessary link in the path. Cubase here I come! |

Do you have bench marks that confirm this? Why does it slow performance? Peter |

mosely, Save your money, Universal Audio is working with Cakewalk to release a DX version of the UAD-1 by the end of the year. It will be a superior implementation of the UAD-1 than what Cubase SX or any other app that I know of, can offer, because unlike Cubase SX, SONAR has automatic delay compensation on all track inserts, AUX buses, Virtual mains, everything. Cubase only has ADC on its track inserts. Some people have complained about SONAR 2.0, gapping, when inserting and deleting effects, this is the ADC kicking in to keep SONAR in sample accurate sync at all times. Once the new DX drivers are released I will be buying a UAD-1, unless of course I can get one really cheap before hand. Billy Buck |

For more info on the UAD-1 go to the forums here to ask more about it: http://www.chrismilne.com/uadforums/ Many people have used the Uad-1 very successfully with sonar and fxpansions vst wrapper. The latest and most optimized version for the card is 4.0. Get it here: http://www.fxpansion.com/ ---Yeah i don't want to use a wrapper because it slows performance and just puts an unecessary link in the path---I have not heard any talks or complaints at all of people using the wrapper. Do a search of the UA forums and you'll see that it works just as well. The UA drivers are NOWHERE NEAR perfect. There are still bugs lurking about, but it has come along way since its release. I'm not sure if you can push the card to 100% yet but people have reported a stable 85-90% I remember. Can someone give one final try at talking with the guys at UA to implement the non-inplace filter model. Peter...anybody!!!!! Those guys at cakewalk added automatic plugin delay compensation to every branch of their audio chain. Is that the way to go? Will that be implemented to acid or even VEGAS 4.0 if they don't get it right? NOW I'M WORRIED! Later. |
