If I have a snare hit can I paint or draw it to fall on a 16th grid> Then jump to a new track and lay in the same hit on an eighth> Then jump to a new track and lay it on a 32nd....... |

I'm not exactly positive what you are asking... Yes, you can do each of the things you mentioned. You can change your grid spacing settings under the Options menu. Nate |

Each track would have to be of the same audio file, and then you could paint what you want, where you want it. You may want to export some loops from your placed samples so you don't have to keep dropping one-shots of 16ths or 32nds. TeeCee |

Ah, I think I see what he was asking. Though, it seems like it might be overkill to do it in this manner. With ACID 4.0 it would probably make more sense to just load the kick sample into a VSTi drum sampler and sequence away on a MIDI track. Nate |

That's what I was really thinking. I really like the DR-008, and I know there are several alternatives. And I'm pretty proficient with MIDI (MIDI is my friend). But he wanted to use audio samples... TeeCee |

Yes, you can do that. Things to keep in mind: -Such a sample should be a One-shot type, not a Loop. You could use a Loop if it contains the snare hit you want. Use the Chopper (only in ACID Pro 3.0 and above) to extract it if this be the case. -Use Options>Grid Spacing and set a desired grid resolution. Hold down CTRL on your keyboard and use the Paint Tool to paint in the One-shot. -You could simply use the same track instead of just duplicating the track and painting in the snare hit. -Check out acidfanatic.com. They have a tutorial on using ACID like a drum machine, very similar to what I described above. You'll have to register to check out the tutorial, but it's free. HTH, Iacobus |
