Hi all,

Can anyone pleeese help me with the following question.

I have attached my midi keyboard to my sound card but i haven't got a clue as to how i can map sounds through it. I have searched the forum and the website for info but it's too vague. It says i have to choose my midi device, Generate MIDI clock, record and thats it??????
This is chinese to me so if anyone can give me a rundown for dummies it would be greatly appreciated.

Usually keyboards and sound cards come with decent descriptions of how to sequence MIDI hardware. Have you checked your literature? When you come back with more questions, tell us how your keyboard is physically connected to your computer and what kind of keyboard you are using. It sounds like it is connected via a MIDI cable to your sound card (not USB), but do you have MIDI In and MIDI Out connected? Are you trying to get sounds out of your keyboard or are you trying to play your computer back from the keyboard? If you are trying to get sound out of your keyboard, do you have the audio out of your keyboard connected to your sound card?

Thanks 4 the reply TeeCee.

I have a midi cable coming out of the MIDI OUT of my ( Cheetah MK5 Keyboard ) connecting at the other end to the game port of my Sound Blaster live value card.
I can't see any other way of connecting the keyboard to the card so i don't see what i might be doing it wrong. Hwta i didn't understand was the explanation in the Knowledgebase of how to route sounds from the pc through the keyboard...not really meant for novices I think.

Any more help is welcome TeeCee.

Best regards

Gahan,

Are you trying to have Acid play your keyboard as an external device? Or are you trying to play a VSTi with your keyboard?

1.Midi out from "Cheetah MK5 Keyboard" to midi in of soundblaster card.
2.Open acid.
3. Options-preferences...midi...check off your midi ports of your soundblaster.
4. Make sure you have vsti's loaded...I know duh...
5. Make sure you are using your soundblaster asio drivers[latest version?].
6. Click add softsynth...choose from menu.
7. Press "realtime midi button".
8. click the "external midi inport button" and choose your SB input.
9. Play in realtime any synth you have loaded up.

I'm not at my audio computer so if there is a problem I'll post again. HTH.

Later.

Shtunot gave a good description of how to play back your soft synths with your keyboard, but it sounded like you want to play your keyboard back from Acid. IF Shtunot's directions didn't help you, let us know.
