Can anyone please list the different ways you use Acid or how you use Acid with other apps (sofo or not)

Example:

gererate midi in reason> import to acid> assign soft synth> render > chop > export loops to sonar

This is just one example from a new comer to the acid sofo world

I hope to

find out the many ways you use these tools

With AP3 I have Fruityloops open on ASIO drivers and Acid on Wave. I compose parts in Fruity, render them and drop into Acid. If they need a tweak Fruity is still open and I'll just render out a slightly different version. This is actually very fast and convenient.

I also used Fruity to host VSTi. I matched the bpm rates in Fruity and Acid, then pressed "record" in Acid and play the VSTi into Acid "live". When I'm finished I just trim the edges and have a nice long one-shot riff in Acid. I also play synths in from my Pulsar-II sound card in the same way from the Pulsar environment.

Sometimes I'll solo Acid tracks and send them through the Pulsar environment for more effects and record it direct back into Acid.

When I'm finished I render it to one wav file and take it into SoundForge6 for normalisation and some Wavehammer mastering.

Although I have AcidPro4 it isn't really improving things much from AP3.I've got used to playing VSTi and Pulsar synths direct to audio, so having to go to MIDI first then rendering is not always the fastest route for me.

The biggest AP4 plus is being able to compose MIDI tracks of Pulsar synths. But I'm having problems rendering the Pulsar MIDI tracks to audio (they're not in sync). Despite several emails, support page posts, forum posts, and even JPEG screenshots, no one from SoFo has ever even replied, so for now it's AP3....

That cool. When you say:

" I pressed "record" in Acid and play the VSTi into Acid "live". " you are saying that you route from FL out your sound card and into Acid?

Yes. I can route the output of Fruity to come in directly to Acid (internally of course). I have a variety of sound sources (hardware, environmental, video etc) that also come into my soundcard and are also routed to Acid (or more often SoundForge). The Creamware cards are fantastic for routing (and synths).

So you never have conflicts running more than one sound card on the same machine at the same time?

I used to have a Sound Blaster Live and an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 going in the same system without any problems. (I've ditched the Live and now I have an Audiophile and a USB Duo in the same system; still have no problems.) That could be because I'm so tyrannical when it comes to my system resources (each device has its own IRQ, etc.)...

I just have a Pulsar-II card. It's a sound card with on-board synths, effects, mixers, routing options, samplers etc, as well as acting as a standard soundcard.
