Subject:VST Out Of Tune? What's Going On?

I've been using v4.0 for a couple of hours and it's been moderately stable. The thing I've noticed is that my VSTi is a semitone out of tune. I'm using Steinberg's EVP73. What's the deal? |

SonicSounds, What sampling rate are you using in your ACID project? Some VST instruments do not deal with all sampling rates properly. Some rates (often 48kHz) can actually pitch shift the synth's generated audio. This is something we came across while testing, and we found that the problem persisted in different VST hosts on the market. So, the trouble must be an issue with either the VSTi spec, or the instrument itself. "A semitone out of tune" sounds like you are probably using 48kHz and the VST instrument is generating 44.1kHz audio, which, when played back at 48kHz, would be shifted about a semitone up. Sound familiar? The solution, of course, would be to try a different sampling rate and see if that makes a difference. Nate |

I am guessing you mean the Emagic EVP73. This is a known problem with the Emagic EVP73 when you play it at any sample rate other than 44.1 kHz. You have to adjust the tune parameter for this one. Peter |

I'm not the most MIDI-literate musician. Where can I adjust this parameter? I've tried it on my controller and it doesn't work. |

You can adjust the sample rate of your project under File > Properties. Or you could adjust the tuning of the VSTi instrument. Most likely, this setting can be adjusted within the EVP73 itself. Perhaps under one of it's config pages. Nate |
