I'm curious to know why Sonic Foundry Vegas and Sound Forge are not pulicized in more audio periodicals? I have been a user of the Sonic Foundry Family for over three years and LOVE the product and use it in a Pro/Home studio on a very regular basis. I am always flipping through magazines like EQ, MIX, Home Recording, etc and rarely see any ads or articles for Sonic Foundry software. I'm sick and tired of Stienberg, Pro Tools, Sonar, and all the others getting all the reviews and credits. When I have clients in the studio they are always asking what software are you using? When I tell them Sound Forge they seem surprised. Then they start looking through my mags that are laying around the studio and wonder why they don't see any Sonic Foundry Press. Once I get them to try it, they like it, but boy I would like to have more ammo to push the product further. I have a whole multi media department using Vegas Audio and Sound Forge at a community college I work at and again I always get the same questions. I think Sonic Foundry would do great in a mag like Home Recording with interviews, tips and tricks, and End User reviews. Round up some of us fans and get the ball rolling. Again I Love the software and I'm a loyal user, just curious. Mike McNeil - Mix Garage, Multi Media Services |

I'm a regular subscriber to EQ, Mix and Keyboard mags, and I've noticed this lately. Actually there use to be a lot of Sonic Foundry adds in these mags along with, Vegas and Acid got reviewed on a regular basis. I haven't seen any new reviews with Vegas 3.0, Acid 4.0 or Sound Forge 6.0, which is really a shame. On the add side, I'm not so sure this is a bad thing. The marketing of Sonic Foundry software has always sucked...(in my opinion)...Vegas was ok, when they showed some pro's using it, along with some actual screen shots. Acid, I couldn't tell if it was an audio production tool, or some underground add for "High Times Magazine". Therefore, any "pro" user could not take the software seriously, because the advertisement looked like a joke. I wish their marketing department would take the time to read some of these forums post, because they might realize how the users are complaining about the perception of their products. |

I agree -- own all 3 flagship products & love them. Maybe it's a funding problem. If so, they might want to track who gets their glossy catalog that comes on its own and with every purchase. I'm sure these things cost a bit, and I know I've got about 6 copies of the new one already. |

Absolutely, I see at least two a month to the same address and not much change in them from issue to issue. I would rather see some reviews and articles than catalogs. I alreday know what they sell, I don't need to see it every month. Maybe a tips and tricks flyer would be more effective. |

I get at least one or more a month, many times being the broushures with the LE and kids software even though I've always bought the full pro versions of SF, Acid and Vegas. Naturaly I throw it in the junk mail bin whilst uttering an expletive. I like them somtimes though, every couple months would be fine or when new pro-products are introduced. (Like a new CD Architec... hint, hint) Dear Sounic Foundry, I want your company to be profitable and to stay in business. Stop wasting money sending so much junk mail to current users. . |

I was all set to complain about the number of catalogs too. Of the lastest edition (Orange) i received three at home, one at church, and two at work. However, in the span of about three weeks, i had no less than five people approach me asking for advice on audio/video editing software. I showed them ACID/SoundForge/Vegas running on my computer and they were all delighted, but wanted to sit back and read more about it before making decisions. Five catalogs all went on to good homes where hopefully they'll take root and grow to become productive new members of the SonicFoundry family. ;) Maybe that's their reasoning for so many catalogs. |
