Subject:Need help cleaning up spoken voice

I have been recording my lectures at school with a digital recorder. It works great, and I don't need to edit anything. However, today the instructor lectured from behind a large podium and proved to be a great barrier for the mike. As a result, the recording is kind of...well, crappy. The volume is too low, and at times muffled. The ambient noise somewhat overshadows the spoken lecture. If you could offer any help at all as to how I could clean it up, I would appreciate it. I am using Sound Forge 6.
Thanks,
Kimmie

The best bet is Noise Reduction (if you have it). Be warned, though -- if the background noise is too hot, it will eat into the voice and cause a compression-like "tinny" artifact...No way around it that I'm aware of.
