Subject:No VST option for midi through

How do I record a midi track(using a vst softsynth) and hear the sound in real time as I record. The midi-through options are greyed out in the record dialogue box.

Please let me know

Be sure to specify an external MIDI input port under the soft synth properties dialog. (Similarly, be sure to choose a device for MIDI input under Options>Preferences on the menu bar and then the MIDI tab.)
