Now, when I preview my tracks (those on the timeline), I get "scratches/glitches" in my sound. Is there a way to prerender ? How can I fix this? I've been playing with my buffer in "Options"/"Prefs" and this has an influence but I still cannot get completely rid of those. And I only got 3 tracks (one being MUTE) ! Total lenght: 7 seconds max overall except if I include the track being mute: + or - 3minutes...

what do the tracks consist of? are u recording the material or using pre-recordrd loops? If you are recoding the material make sure you are not clipping the input which causes distortion. Visually, does the signal seem to "hit the walls" of the track? That would mean your input levels are too high.

I just defragged...
In fact, if I listen to tracks individually ("!":solo), it's just the track I recorded (a beatbox track) that doesn't make those "scratches" sounds. And it's not overloading distortion. It sounds more like static electricity on an old 33rpm record...
More: it just happened when I added this last track (the beatbox track I made) to the timeline. Before that, everything was perfect; no noise.

OK. I just tried something else. I opened these tracks in Sound Forge Studio. No problem. So I went back in Acid, started a new project, opened the tracks: no problem. I then added reverb and BOOM, the noise was back! So i figured out it's the effects. I then removed these reverbs but there were some "glitches" that remained...
Could the effects be poisoned???

In order for the FX to be reinstalled, I believe you have to also reinstall ACID as well.

if they are the xfx (sfppack1.dll, sfppack2.dll ect) that installed with acid, you can use dxuninstaller (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/vb-audio/us/download/DXuninstaller.zip) if winidows' add/remove programs doesn't list them. i'd use both. place copies of those files on your desktop before you uninstall.

once you've uninstalled you'll have to register the plugs in acid. it may be as simple as dragging those .dll files and dropping them into acid. or pasting them into the acid plugins folder.

otherwise you may have to download the xfx, install, and call sofo to get an activation code for them.

if they are 3rd party dxfx you can unistall them with windows' add/remove then reinstall them from disk.

The versions of the XFX that come with ACID are the ones you want to use. The other XFX will work, of course, but you have a potentially strange situation if you install other versions of SoFo software that include the XFX as well (Sound Forge or Vegas). We test to be sure that installing in this manner doesn't break anything, but everyone's install scenario is unique, and you are safer sticking with the ones that come with ACID.

Try the following:

1) Locate the following files on your hard drive:

sfppack1.dll
sfppack2.dll
sfppack3.dll
sfresfilter.dll
sftrkfx1.dll

They should be located at:

C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Shared Plug-Ins\Audio
2) Open ACID
3) One at a time, drop each onto the ACID window and choose NO when it asks if you would like to register the filter. This will effectively unregister the plug-ins.
4) Now, repeat step 3, but choose YES when ACID asks if you would like to register the filters.
5) Afterwards, close and reopen ACID and see if things are back to normal.

HTH,
Nate

I'll try that and see (listen, in fact...).
Thanks!
