I was listening to the Machine Language (John Drukman) example from the Sofo Content CD. I have 2 Mackie 824's moniters, no 5.1. The 5.1 version had amazing fidelity, much better than the standard .acd version of the song (it is the best electonic sound I have ever heard coming out of my speakers.) Why is this? |

I didn't get the boxed version of ACID 4.0, so I can't check this out. Was the 5.1 version in 24-bit/96 kHz (or better)? I believe that resolution and sample rate are standard for surround. (I'm no expert on the issue though. Just a guess.) Iacobus |

It's Master bus mode 5.1 surround, 44.1kHz, 16 bit, enable low pass filter on LFE. Maybe its all in the mix, the master output is the same, by my ear the 5.1 version has more punch and separation than the stereo version. Ma Ja Le sounded the same Ilona, sounded better in 5.1 on my stereo moniters. L |

if you're playing this through a stereo system, I'm not 100% on this, but if you have no sub, some bass will probably shelved from your stereo monitors. Maybe the clarity is simply because the bottom end isn't muddying the mix? Check your monitor setup, the HR824's have selective bass switches on the back, maybe they could be setup better... |
