Subject:ATTN:SOFO...audio export help needed

How, for the love of God, can I export audio tracks out of ACID like I intended them to be. Meaning: you can't choose recording stereo or mono into ACID, and now, no matter if the file is stereo or mono to begin with, ACID exports it as stereo!!!!! Why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why? I then have to go and convert all the files BACK the way the are supposed to be. If I gots a project with 50+ tracks, that's too much extra work, guys! What is thee deal? Puh-leeze tell me this is an oversight and you didn't do this on purpose and that you are gonna fix it.

Wayne,

I'm a bit confused. Are you trying to record mono files into the Acid timeline (via Ctrl+R)? Or are you trying to bounce tracks down as mono files (via Ctrl+M)?

"you can't choose recording stereo or mono into ACID"

I can... maybe it depends on the audio card? I have the choice of stereo, left or right as the input - selecting left or right produces a mono file.

"and now, no matter if the file is stereo or mono to begin with, ACID exports it as stereo"

That's a pain, ain't it? I'm assuming you're talking about rendering each track as a seperate file? Acid does this track by track, so you COULD remove all the mono tracks, render with the stereo template, reload the project, remove all the stereo tracks and render with the mono template. I think that's the fastest way of doing it.

It would be useful to have the option ACID render the MIDI VSTi's at the same time.

he means in the save as... dialog, with the checkbox "export each track as a seperate file"
you can export your loops tracks into a multitrack recorderand use them there.

I dont see why they wont allow mono export, that is not cool.

Yeah that's what I was refering to - in the file menu choose 'Render As' then tick the render seperate files box, then choose the mono template.

Yes, there's a preset template in the render dialog that will
render as 44.1k mono files. It works for me. I think the default
is stereo though. Or you can click on the custom button to make
a template of your own and save it.

You can record mono files as well. Just select the left or right channel
of your soundcard in the Record Device dropdown menu of the
recording dialog box.

happy recording to you,

Dave

What's need is a 'same as source file' template option, as in SoFo's Batch Convertor.

In any case you'd probably find Stereo more useful - as soon as you pan or add any stereo fx to to mono track the output would be in stereo.

So what we really need is a 'render full length tracks without fx & pan' or equivilant.

I think the render option is most useful for exporting to another app for mixing (even more so if rendered the VSTi too).

Actually, what I'm speaking of IS the "export as seperate tracks" except ACID doesn't leave them as they were. Example: my kick, snare and hat are mono...always. When I export I don't want a stereo kick, snare and hat...I want a mono kick, snare and hat...ACID won't let me do this. You say tick the "mono template" but the files in my projects are mixed(pads in stereo, some guitars, etc...drums, percussion in mono, etc...lead vocal in mono and so on) so a "one size fits all" approach won't work. Why does ACID do this anyway? Just leave my files alone, plz.
