Subject:recording (a beatbox) : Baaaaad...

I'm recording a beatbox and the playback sounds like there was no more hi's, no more bass. In fact, it sounds like passing through a muffed megaphone.
I've been setting tempo, use the sound mapper (microsoft), record at 96000:24.
I've been following all that's said in the "recording" help section with no success... what's my bug here..?

Beatbox as in drum machine and not a "human beatbox", right? Have you tried recording straight to Sound Forge to check your recordability? Are you recording at your project rate? Are you using an interface such as a Sound Blaster that is actually locked at 48kHz? Why don't you try recording at something like 48kHz or 44.1kHz? I always work at 44.1kHz because that's where it's going to be when it hits a CD and I don't want to have to convert my recordings later.

I've been recording in SoundForge (*Studio* that is) and everything's ok there. But I'd like to have a real recorder in Acid too so I could just record there, erase the start of the track (beatmap wizz... does that) and edit after in chopper so I could do everything in Acid. I know it's the same work in terms of *time spent on the aps* but just knowing my recording in Acid is bad leaves me a bad feeling... I'd really like to set it straight so I could sleep thight \Ü/

I'll be trying more 'til I find! (And I'll set my recordings to 44100 too, your way of doing things makes sense) Thanks for reply TeeCee!

if its human beats, perhaps you should start by opening a simple snare, clap, kick or click loop. then set the tempo and use that as a metronome.

that way you avoid the strange sound caused by beatmapped wavs after its original tempo gets changed.

another thing to do would be: uncheck "preserve pitch" in the properties window of your track(s).

I'll look at it too groovewerx, Thanks!
PS: it's an *electronic* beatbox. Not a real drummer.
