New motherboard. Fortunately still under warranty...whew! (One thing I'll say about Gateway, they've taken care of me...unlike some other computer companies I've had the unfortunate experience to buy from in the past.) So I'm renewing my efforts to try to get something done in 4.0a. It's possible that the gunshots and other major difficulties I was reporting before that caused me to say I was not going to work in Acid anymore were "hooey mother" related. I'll let y'all know if the problems persist despite the motherboard replacement.
